Law Enforcement in America?

Introduction:  Law enforcement in America has been on the spotlight in America.  How do we fight crime and respect our nations citizens?




Task: After studying these clips, write a thoughtful reaction to what you saw in the comments section below.  Consider the following questions to guide your posts

What did you see?
What did you think of what you saw?
How did you agree with or disagree with the officers in the clips? What were their strengths and weaknesses?  
What other thoughts/reactions do you have about both or either clips?

High Voltage - Intent To Deliver a Controlled Substance?


Yesterday's case was about the attempt to deliver a controlled substance....heroin.  What did you make of this case?  What stood out to you?

For this assignment, you are to write a reaction to what you saw.  To do this answer the following question:

How were terms/concepts 'innocent until proven guilty' and/or 'beyond a reasonable doubt' a part of this case?

Ex-Marine Found Guilty In 'American Sniper' Murder Trial

  Chris Kyle was killed by a fellow military soldier after returning from the Middle East.  The trial of his killer ended last night.  He was given life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Listen to the story.  What do you think of it?  Was it fair where the case was held?  What do you think about what the family members said after the trial?  While you weren't able to analyze the case, what are your initial impressions about it?  Was justice served?  Or, did this seem like an unfair trial?

The Death Penalty:   Good Idea or No way? 

Read the article on Tom Wolf declaring a moratorium on the death penalty.

Then, read this article about the legislature being angry that he unilaterally did that.

Write 7 lines about how you feel.  Is the death penalty a good idea or a bad idea?  Why or how?  What about Wolf? Should he have gotten consensus about this from the legislature or was doing it unilaterally fine with you?
