  1. I do not understand why police always think its acceptable to shoot people knowing that they have other weapons or techniques they could use. Yes I do believe its a race factor because they deal with certain races different well from what I see. I will never like cops no matter what race they kill. No cop should abuse there power and if they do they should be fired and placed in jail- Daveonne Banks

    3. I disagree with you in a way. Not all policemen kill people or abuse power. Yes there are bad cops who should be punished or removed from the police department but there are also good cops that actually help people. - Domonique Swanigan

  2. Cops have never been good and never be good. They have only treated us unfairly not just African Americans. I don't care about who you have locked up in the PAST don't judge me based off the clothes I wear. I feel like they have always treated us badly. They sprayed us with water hoses, turned dogs on us, and beaten us senseless. If they didn't treat us good then they won't ever.

    3. I have to say i don't agree with this response, i agree that some cops maybe been unfair to us(black people) but most of the cops don't just do unfair things without evidence that shows they are criminal ...TapaN

  3. To be honest,This BS is getting out of hand. Its just wrong, You see a white man in baggy jeans and long Tee shirt. Then see a Black man with the same clothes. Guess who gets into something...yep the black guy. Wanna know why, b/c these cops are low dirty racist pieces of "Poop". If you haven't noticed, not one time has there been a white person. But its been 2 blacks and now a latino. Great whats next children? -Tyshawn

    2. Now they would go after not just our children but rape or murder our women. If you really think about it, it's just like the way they did us during slavery and no one has made that connection.

    3. I dont necessarily agree with that, not all officers are as bad. Maybe you're hearing the bad side of the situation .. what if the so called victim was wrong? - MaiLani

    4. I agree but I don't. Many of the "victims" are wrong but many of the cops take things out of hand.

    5. Now its wayyy more people then 2 men murdered by a cop. And they make it seem what they did was ok because he had his possibility of what wass gonna happen.

  5. I think the recent violence going on with the police, is kind of sad. Most of the time, I think most of the police officers are racist and cause problems between people who are innocent. I do feel race is a factor, especially because as the FBI Director said, "everyone is a little bit racist". Most cops are good people, actually strong leaders, but there are still some officers who are a bit questionable. I feel like this is just a bad look, i mean, everyone makes mistakes, nobody is perfect. Just because I say this does not excuse the violence and unjust action being taken. The world will slowly get better, we just have to keep trying. - MaiLani Pridgen

    1. I agree with what you said, it is sad because they killed a man with a stone with 17 bullets i mean that have to do something with their race.

  6. I don't think that all cops are bad but about 85% of them are. Race definitely does seem like a factor due to the fact that there always a problem with Latinos in that area. Although it may just be that Latinos are the ones doing crime. Whether that is true or not, 17 shots was completely wrong. I don't think he should have been shot in the first place. The FBI director stated that mostly every cop goes into the force to help people not just a specific race. It seems to be that cops judge the rest of a race off of one person in that specific race's mistake. I think the community should handle things better but as well as the law.

    1. I Agree with your statement on policemen. They are suppose to help EVERY race. Not just their race. - Domonique Swanigan

  7. I think when it comes to the police that race is a factor. The police are usually bias to people that are a different race then them. Not all policemen are bad and not all are good. Being a bad cop or a good cop relies on character not race. The article opened my eyes a little more to the fact that not all but some policemen are killing and harming people just because they have the power. - Domonique Swangan

    1. Yeah I agree on that too but i just think that cops need a better solution then just pulling they gun out and killing people.

  8. A man was shot like 17 times for throwing rocks at police. I think race is a big factor in a police business because like FBI director Comiey said, "when you see two black people walking in a street that reminds of the people they put in jail but when they see white people that reminds them of nothing". I don't think police is a bad thing, without them this community would be filled with chaos, but sometime police do bad things without any good reasons. I think this, this is very sad for Black people because they can't straight in front of the police even if they haven't committee any crime.

  9. Race should not be a factor of all of this police violence and if it is, it should not affect the way cops operate their missions. Citizens are supposed to feel protected by cops it is a certain level of trust. Now people are starting to feel not safe around cops because in different states cops are abusing their authority and now it seems people are waiting to see who is going to be the cops’ next victim. The stakes are high in African American and Spanish males. -Aniayla

  10. I feel that race is the main factor of police taking away loves of citizen. Its usually some citizen of color getting injured, and in latest cases killed by a cop that is white, police was meant to serve a protect us, but what do you do when their the ones harming us the most. I remember when i was younger everyone said they wanted to be one, now its the opposite because everyone is terrified of them.If Treyvon was a white kid, this wouldn't of happened, but since he was a black kid in a more white populated area, he seemed "suspicious". crazy part is that the police that killed the men weren't seen as murders, they were just suspended from their permission to do what ever the want.

I slightly disagree with you, I don't think this is about race for all of them but I think it just looks that way because there have been no white victims.

  11. I think that the recent violence surrounding the police is very negative, and something needs to be done about it. I don't think all police are bad, but majority of them are pigs. A lot of police use their power in the wrong way and think they can get away with anything just because they wear a badge. The video and audio clips influenced my opinion even more because I felt like they killed the Latino boy unfairly. He may have been in the wrong but you don't shoot a man 17 times. And in my opinion that's another way that cops are abusing their power. - UNESHA BANKS

I don't think cops are bad actually. what they have been doing lately is wrong though. I think some of them are just abusing their power and making the wrong decisions at the spur of the moment. I don't think this is about race, but for some of them it could be. It does look like it could be about race since so far, there have been no white victims. The videos didn't really change my thinking but that's probably because I already had my mind sort of made up about the whole situation.

  14. I personally think that police officers aren't bad people of course, they sacrifice their lives and time to put up with us and protect us. On thing that i think is that all of the press are always putting the blame on officer whenever someone dies... but what made the officer defend him/herself in the first place? So the guy was throwing rocks at cars, which is extremely dangerous on many levels, and when the police come on the scene the officer was defending himself. I think this is all of the other stories too. People just think that its racial, but i personally don't think it has so much to do with that considering the fact that about 50% of the population was Hispanic. Back to what i was saying about defending yourself, if someone walks down the street and suddenly starts hitting you, what are you going to do? Stand there and let someone push you around? Or are you going to fight back? Since the jobs of officers is to protect everyone else, don't you think its important for them to protect themselves too when their in harms way?
