  1. In the first clip I watched the police force say what they would do to stop the crime. The police force basically told the ones who were "wanted" what was coming for them. Besides all of that, both clips showed passionate police officers trying to make a difference. The first police officer tried to inspire everyone of every race to want to stop crime. The police officer from the second video, gave a victim of the peaceful march in Montgomery a badge to honor him and he apologized on the behalf of the white police men back then that hurt the blacks in the march of Montgomery brutally. The video showed the good cops, rather than what we have seen in the news lately.

    2. I like the part when you said about how the video showed the good cops rather than what we have seen in the news lately. Which is true it seems like the chief is trying to make a difference and he is very inspirational.

    4. Your comments were thoughtful. I think it was mature of you to acknowledge that both officers were trying to do a good job but saw different ways of being effective.

  2. I saw an officer stand in front of many other officers and give a strong message to the wanted gang people. He told them that they should stand down and that he was not afraid of them. I enjoyed the threat that the first officer said to the gang members. If the gang members were so tough then they would to take the officers on. The second officer made a good point about the officers needing to control their fear when in action.

    1. I have to agree and it too 'enjoyed' watching this officer. I found something in the way he laid out his argument as funny (although I know he was being serious). I could tell he had a good heart too.

  3. In the first video I seen a man that was talking about one specific gang. I think that he went about it in the wrong way. I agree with the officers when he said that they are dangerous because they have guns. I disagree with the officer when he called them animals. Some strengths is that in the video they had white and black people standind together. One thought I have is that the article and the first video were VERY different but was talking about the same situation. For the second video I seen that the chief of Montgomery police gave a man named john Louis a badge. John Louis was one of the people to march on the Montgomery bridge back then. I agree with the video in so many ways and I think that the chief is very inspirational. Some strengths was that the chief did not tell anyone about what he was doing. One thought I have is that I like the way the chief got classes for police officer to take about the history of Montgomery. I think the clips showed a lot and I learned a lot.

    2. I agree. The second officer has a very powerful idea. Teaching officers what blacks went through can be a powerful experience and can really make a difference!

  4. Captain Higgins calling out the gang members of Gremlins and people to not let violence happen. It shows how serious law enforcement take their job to protect people. I do agree with the message but there was some words I would not use like animal. Chief Murphy saw the violence of Montgomery and wanted to change it. So he made officers take a class on black history. He hope it was help officers understand the struggles people go through. I agree with this idea because some people don't understand happen or why they do it. It help both people and officer.

    1. I agree that violence should stop because it could turn into major problems, especially with gangs roaming around.

    2. If have to agree with you here. 'Animal' is a term that uncuts his otherwise powerful presentation. Using such a word runs the risk of alienating many more beyond the Gremlins.

  5. I feel like in the first video the police were being mad bold considering the fact that if they really wanted to they would have been got those "animals" off the streets. I think that they may have provoked the gang rather than actually scare them which may cause the gang to retaliate. I really didn't understand the whole idea of making the police force take a class on black history. In my opinion the class may not change the outcome of what may happen. I think people want to think that the class may have changed the way people view others, but in reality their view has not changed.

    2. I agree about the part where you was saying they were being bold. Also I like how you put animals in parentheses. I actually disagree about the class I think that it was a good thing and they could learn a lot. They can prevent a lot of things by looking at past situations

    3. II can say as a white man that learning about the civil rights movement has only increased my level or respect for those who were part of it. In turn, I think it has allowed me to pause before judging those who may be different from me in a way.

  6. In the first clip police are looking for gang members because they have committed violent acts. I disagree with how this police man went about this situation because he calls the people animals due to their actions. His strengths are that he is trying to get rid of the gang members and end violence and his weaknesses is by calling them names and discriminating them. The second clip I agree with how the police man went about things because he didn't discriminate the members that were marching. His strengths are when he gave a badge to John Lewis. My reaction on both clips is that the first police man is very harsh and disrespectful and the second one is calm and respectful. - Raquel.H
